CJ McCollum tallied a team-high 28 points (9-of-17 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs) and three assists over 35 minutes in Saturday’s loss to the Hawks.

There weren’t a ton of bright spots in this one for the Wizards as they fell to 3-19 on the season and dropped their second straight after a brutal 45-point loss at the hands of the Celtics earlier this week. The 34-year-old veteran remains a decent scoring threat for fantasy purposes, averaging 18.6 points through 22 games, but he doesn’t add much else at this advanced juncture of his career. The Wizards are off until Friday when they face the Cavaliers before closing out the week with a road matchup against the Pacers.

Bub Carrington, CJ McCollum, Kyshawn George, Justin Champagnie and Marvin Bagley will start Saturday’s game against the Hawks.

The Wizards are without Bilal Coulibaly, Khris Middleton and Alex Sarr, with Middleton being the most recent absentee. Carrington, Champagnie and Bagley start with the latter being the best streaming option. While Carrington’s fantasy ceiling has been raised, McCollum should also have the ball in his hands plenty.

The 14th-year pro has started all 16 games he’s appeared in so far in his first full season with the Wizards. He’s averaging 10.4 points per game, which is the fewest since his rookie season. Should he be unable to go, Bub Carrington and Justin Champagnie could see more opportunities.

Vukčević has taken on a larger role recently with Alex Sarr (adductor) sidelined. Sarr will remain out on Saturday, so if Vukčević isn’t available to play the reserve center minutes behind Marvin Bagley, Washington will likely have to utilize small-ball lineups, which could feature Anthony Gill or Justin Champagnie at center.

This will be a fourth-straight absence for Sarr, which means another start for Marvin Bagley. After playing well in the first two games in place of Sarr, Bagley struggled as a starter in the last one. Still, with Tristan Vukcevic questionable, Bagley could see an even larger bump in minutes, though he should at least hover around the 27.1 minutes he’s averaged over the last three outings.
