Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players
De’Aaron Fox had five points (1-of-9 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), five rebounds and seven assists in Thursday’s Game 6 win over the Thunder.
Fox missed the first two games of the series with an ankle injury and hasn’t looked 100 percent since returning. While he’s played through injury, his point totals and field goal percentages have declined in all four games he’s played in this series. Fox had 15 points in Game 3, 12 in Game 4, nine in Game 5 and five in Game 6. He’ll likely need to break this trend and score more than five points in Game 7 on Saturday if the Spurs are going to advance to the NBA Finals.
Dylan Harper
SAS
Guard
#2
Dylan Harper had 18 points (6-of-9 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), six rebounds, four assists and two three-pointers in Thursday’s win over the Thunder in Game 6.
Harper’s 18 points in 22 minutes off the bench were absolutely crucial for the Spurs in Game 6. The 20-year-old guard scored more points than any individual player on the Thunder. Harper continues to impress with his play in the playoffs as he’s played beyond his years. Saturday’s Game 7 on the road will surely be his most difficult test yet.
Victor Wembanyama
SAS
Forward-Center
#1
Victor Wembanyama had 28 points (10-of-21 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals, three blocks and four three-pointers in the Spurs’ 118-91 victory over the Thunder in Game 6 on Thursday.
Wembanyama said in his postgame interview that the Spurs haven’t done anything yet. He means that the Spurs haven’t won the series yet, but San Antonio played a nearly flawless Game 6 just to stay alive in this series. The Spurs led wire-to-wire and dominated from the outset, winning the first quarter 35-22. Coming out of halftime, they outscored the Thunder 32-13 in the third quarter. Wembanyama’s 28 points were a game-high. He and the Spurs will play in the NBA’s 160th Game 7 on Saturday.
Stephon Castle
SAS
Guard
#5
Stephon Castle added 24 points (7-of-11 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, six assists, three steals and three three-pointers in Tuesday’s loss to the Thunder.
Castle did several good things for the Spurs in Game 5. Efficient shooting overall and strong three-point production allowed him to finish as the team’s leading scorer, while his three steals and contributions as a facilitator are also noteworthy. He’s had an up-and-down series with several highs and lows, and San Antonio will need more of the highs on Thursday when it looks to avoid elimination. Castle is averaging 18.6 points and 7.6 assists through the first five games of the series.
Julian Champagnie
SAS
Forward
#30
Julian Champagnie totaled 22 points (8-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), eight rebounds, one assist, three steals and four three-pointers in the loss to the Thunder on Tuesday.
While the Spurs lost on Tuesday, Champagnie found his shooting rhythm and was somewhat of a bright spot. The fourth-year forward broke out of a major shooting slump from beyond the arc, where he’d shot 6-of-31 entering Game 5. The hot shooting allowed him to put forth his best offensive game of the series — the Spurs will need more of the same on Thursday from Champagnie to help keep the season alive.
Victor Wembanyama
SAS
Forward-Center
#1
Victor Wembanyama added 20 points (4-of-15 FGs, 12-of-12 FTs), six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks in the loss to the Thunder on Tuesday.
Wemby logged one of his least impactful performances of the postseason on Tuesday. In the loss, he missed all five of his three-point attempts, shot his worst field goal percentage of the playoffs, and finished with under 10 rebounds for the third straight game. Over half of his points came from the charity stripe, further emphasizing his struggles to get things going from the field. The Defensive Player of the Year also had a modest five stocks during his 38 minutes. The Spurs will more than likely need more production from Wemby on Thursday to keep their season alive and force a seventh game.
De'Aaron Fox
SAS
Guard
#4
De’Aaron Fox produced 12 points (5-of-13 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and one three-pointer in Sunday’s Game 4 win over the Thunder.
While he still has not looked 100 percent after returning from a sprained right ankle that sidelined him for Games 1 and 2, Fox’s presence on the court has paid dividends. Stephon Castle totaled two turnovers in Games 3 and 4 after committing 20 in the first two games, and Fox contributed a game-high 10 rebounds on Sunday. Victor Wembanyama’s dominance and the Spurs’ defense were the stories of Sunday’s blowout victory. Still, Fox’s return is one reason why San Antonio has a realistic shot at dethroning the reigning champs. Game 5 is on Tuesday night.
Stephon Castle
SAS
Guard
#5
Stephon Castle finished Sunday’s Game 4 win over the Thunder with 13 points (5-of-11 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and one three-pointer.
Castle was one of four Spurs’ starters to record a complete stat line in Game 4, with Julian Champagnie being the exception. The second-year guard was once again a pest defensively, but he was also far more efficient on offense. After totaling 20 turnovers in the first two games of the Western Conference Finals, Castle has been responsible for one each in Games 3 and 4. Getting De’Aaron Fox back has helped immensely, even if the veteran point guard has not looked as explosive as usual due to his right ankle injury.
Devin Vassell
SAS
Guard-Forward
#24
Devin Vassell tallied 13 points (3-of-7 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), six rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and two three-pointers in Sunday’s Game 4 win over the Thunder.
After scoring 22 and 20 points in Games 2 and 3 of the Western Conference Finals, Vassell was not as productive offensively in Game 4. However, he shot 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and recorded a complete stat line in the Spurs’ 103-82 victory. Neither team shot the ball well from beyond the arc, going a combined 15-of-66, but San Antonio’s defensive activity carried the night. Vassell and the Spurs will look to take a 3-2 series lead when they visit the Thunder for Game 5 on Tuesday night.
Victor Wembanyama
SAS
Forward-Center
#1
Victor Wembanyama accounted for 33 points (11-of-22 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, three blocks and three three-pointers in Sunday’s Game 4 win over the Thunder.
Facing a potential 3-1 series deficit, Wembanyama and the Spurs came out highly aggressive in Game 4. The 7-foot-4 phenom scored 22 points in the first half, including a half-court shot as time expired to send the Spurs into the break with a 50-38 lead. With San Antonio in firm control for most of the second half, Wembanyama only needed to play 31 minutes, watching most of the fourth quarter either from an exercise bike in the tunnel or on the Spurs’ bench. The series is now a best-of-3, with Game 5 scheduled for Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
