Bryce McGowens provided a boost off the bench with 20 points (8-of-15 FGs), two rebounds, three assists, one steal and one three-pointer against the Hawks on Wednesday.

McGowens was able to take on a larger role with both Trey Murphy (back) and Herb Jones (ankle) sidelined. He didn’t get the chance to start, but he played a season-high 37 minutes off the bench. He didn’t contribute much in other categories, but if Murphy and Jones remain out in Washington on Friday, McGowens will hold some streaming upside in deeper leagues.

Zion Williamson led the Pelicans with 22 points (10-of-15 FGs, 2-of-7 FTs), eight rebounds, six assists and one steal in a 117-100 loss to the Hawks on Wednesday.

Zion was held to just 15 points against the Lakers on Tuesday, and while he was more productive in this game, he still wasn’t able to contribute enough to end this losing streak. Williamson scored at least 30 points in three straight games when he returned to the starting lineup, but in the three games since then, he has averaged 16.3 points. Still, he’s healthy and available, and he has been playing in back-to-backs, which is great to see from him.

Jordan Poole started on Wednesday and contributed 21 points (7-of-18 FGs), one rebound, three assists, three steals and six three-pointers against the Hawks.

With Trey Murphy and Herb Jones sidelined against Atlanta, Poole returned to the starting lineup. He wasn’t efficient as a scorer, but he was able to pour in the points, mostly from beyond the arc, and contribute defensively. This came after he was held scoreless against the Lakers on Tuesday. Poole is one of the most volatile players in the league, but if he is able to start again in his return to Washington on Friday, he may be able to have another big scoring night.

The Pelicans won’t have Trey Murphy or Herb Jones for Wednesday’s game, opening up two spots in the starting lineup. Poole and Matković will fill the resulting voids. While the former is already rostered in most leagues, the latter is worth streaming in deeper formats.

Jones made his return from a seven-game absence on Tuesday, so it isn’t shocking that he’ll miss the second night of the back-to-back. With both Jones and Trey Murphy (back) out, there will be plenty of wing minutes open for Bryce McGowens, Micah Peavy and Jordan Hawkins.

The Pelicans are playing the second leg of a back-to-back set after a narrow loss to the Lakers on Tuesday. With Herb Jones (ankle) questionable and Saddiq Bey (hip) sidelined, Bryce McGowens and Micah Peavy should see increased run against Atlanta.

Tuesday’s game was Jones’ first since December 22. Unfortunately, he could not find his stroke offensively, leaving the minutes tally (35) as the lone positive. As for Jones’ availability for Wednesday’s game against the Hawks, Pelicans interim head coach James Borrego said that will be determined after the team arrives in Atlanta. Fantasy managers should consider him questionable for the time being.

After ripping off a streak of three consecutive games with at least 30 points, Williamson has totaled 27 over his last two appearances. The points tally on Tuesday was negatively affected by a 1-of-5 night from the foul line; not just the percentage, but the attempts as well. The good news for fantasy managers is that Williamson tallied five assists, the most in a game for him since December 26. He’s offered top-100 value in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks, and the emergence of Derik Queen may have lowered Zion’s ceiling due to a decrease in on-ball playmaking opportunities.

Derik Queen finished Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers with 10 points (5-of-10 FGs), 13 rebounds, eight assists and two steals.

Queen finished Tuesday’s defeat two assists shy of his second triple-double, pushing his double-double tally up to seven. While the production has tailed off somewhat after a hot start to December, the rookie center is still offering top-100 per-game value in eight-cat formats over the past two weeks. Rostered in 53 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Queen is someone who 10-team league managers should look to add now if he’s on the waiver wire. His usage should be even higher after the trade deadline, especially if the Pelicans can’t make some headway in the race for a play-in spot.
