Both Hayes and Deandre Ayton (knee) are questionable, so the Lakers could end up incredibly shorthanded down low. If both are sidelined, Jarred Vanderbilt and Drew Timme would likely be next in line to fill out center minutes.

This is a new injury for Ayton, and the Lakers don’t have much depth at center behind him. Jaxson Hayes would likely fill the void, though his streaming appeal will be limited. Drew Timme could also fill some minutes off the bench.

Luka Dončić (groin) is out for Saturday’s game against the Trail Blazers.

Dončić is dealing with left groin soreness and has been ruled out in advance of Saturday’s game against the Trail Blazers. Lakers starters including LeBron James will be heavily relied on in this one while reserves Dalton Knecht, Nick Smith Jr. and Gabe Vincent could also help pick up the slack.

Jake LaRavia totaled 18 points (5-of-10 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), three rebounds, three assists, two steals and three three-pointers in the loss to the Hornets on Thursday.

LaRavia shot the ball efficiently on Thursday en route to finishing as one of five Lakers to score in double figures. The first-year Laker also collected a couple of steals in his team-high 37 minutes and tied for the team lead in three-pointers. LaRavia scored in double figures for the sixth time in January and continues to have a really good stretch from a production standpoint. He’s rostered in only 21 percent of Yahoo! leagues, and could be a worthwhile roster addition for those managers looking for upside.

Luka Dončić amassed 39 points (15-of-26 FGs, 3-of-7 FTs), three rebounds, four assists and six three-pointers in the loss to the Hornets on Thursday.

Dončić put up another high-scoring performance on Thursday, despite it coming in a lopsided defeat. Yet, the do-it-all guard struggled to make much of an impact when he wasn’t scoring. Dončić combined for just seven rebounds and assists, which marks the lowest since December 20 against the Clippers, a game in which he exited early due to injury. He limited his turnovers to just one on Thursday, a great improvement from the seven he had on Tuesday. Nonetheless, fantasy managers should expect Dončić to get back to his stat-stuffing ways fairly quickly.
LeBron James

LAL Forward #23

LeBron James finished Thursday’s loss to the Hornets with 29 points (10-of-19 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), nine rebounds, six assists, two steals, one block and three three-pointers.

James followed up his 31/9/10 outing against the Hawks with another well-rounded performance on Thursday. In his 33 minutes, he once again shot well from the floor and was efficient from the three-point line, as his impact as a rebounder and playmaker also carried over. The 41-year-old forward also gathered a few stocks before the final horn sounded, giving him lots of fantasy basketball production on the night. The Lakers will face the Trail Blazers on Saturday, where James will have a chance to log another big performance.

Jaxson Hayes (hamstring) is out for Thursday’s game against the Hornets.

Hayes will miss a second consecutive game as he recovers from a sore left hamstring. The Lakers will have to go small when Deandre Ayton isn’t on the floor, with Jarred Vanderbilt serving as the small-ball center.

Deandre Ayton recorded a double-double on Tuesday with 17 points (7-of-9 FGs), 18 rebounds, and one assist against the Hawks.

This was Ayton’s second straight double-double, which was the first time he had consecutive double-doubles since November. He also set a new season high for boards in the win. Ayton has been an excellent source of rebounds and field goal percentage this season, though he hasn’t had much success in other categories. Still, that has been enough for him to once again be a top-100 player in category leagues. He’s had a few rough games in recent weeks, so this performance was encouraging.
Luka Dončić

LAL Forward-Guard #77

Luka Dončić lit up the Hawks with 27 points (7-of-16 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), five rebounds, 12 assists, one block, five three-pointers and seven turnovers on Tuesday.

Dončić had a monster first half for the Lakers to give them a 21-point lead entering the break. He contributed 23 points and seven dimes before halftime, and while he didn’t contribute much after that, he was still able to have an excellent night. The turnovers were rough, but that isn’t a new issue for Luka. He’ll continue to pour in the gaudy counting stats moving forward, with the Hornets up next on the schedule on Thursday.
