According to Hornets head coach Charles Lee, the rookie wanted to participate in Sunday’s practice but was held out and will also sit on Monday. If Sion James (illness) is upgraded from questionable to available, he would be the most likely replacement in the starting lineup. If he can’t play, Collin Sexton would likely be next in line.

The injury report ahead of Monday’s game against the Bucks will be a better indicator of Knueppel’s status, and if he ends up missing the game, Sion James will likely start in his place.

He managed to turn things around down the home stretch, reaching the 20-point plateau for the fourth time in five games since returning from a brief three-game absence back on December 18. The 24-year-old all-around threat is averaging 19.7 points, 5.4 assists, 8.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.3 blocks over 21 games this season, delivering seventh-round value for fantasy purposes. The Hornets, who have won four of their last five games, are back in action on Monday when they face the Bucks to open a busy four-game week.

Moussa Diabaté recorded a double-double with 10 points (3-of-4 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), 13 rebounds, three assists and one block over 32 minutes during Friday’s win over the Magic.

On the heels of an 18-rebound explosion earlier this week, Diabaté posted his second consecutive double-double, pulling down a game-high 13 boards. The 23-year-old center isn’t much of a scoring threat since his game is mostly limited to around the rim, but he’s making an impact for fantasy purposes as an elite rebounder, averaging 12 boards over his last four games. He’ll be a relevant fantasy option in deeper fantasy formats until rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner (elbow) is ready to return.

Collin Sexton supplied 13 points (5-of-9 FGs) and two assists off the bench during Friday’s win over the Magic.

Sexton saw an immediate uptick in minutes after rookie sensation Kon Knueppel left the contest with a right ankle injury during the second quarter after exploding for 16 early points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. The -year-old guard heated up in the second half, He’s been in double-figures in back-to-back games after an extended absence due to a quad issue.

Knueppel, who scored 16 points in the first quarter of Friday’s game, exited during the second after spraining his right ankle. Unfortunately, the rookie has been ruled out for the rest of the night. Sion James started the third quarter, and he’ll likely be the replacement in the starting lineup if Knueppel misses time beyond the remainder of Friday’s game.

Due to his and Ryan Kalkbrenner’s (elbow) absences, Moussa Diabaté received the starting nod on Tuesday and should retain that role for the foreseeable future. He’s worth streaming in deeper leagues. Also, Tidjane Salaün’s playing time has increased, but he has not reached the point where he should be streamed.
