The Boston Red Sox's disappointing start to the 2019 MLB season hit a new low point Tuesday with an 8-0 loss to the rival New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Red Sox ace Chris Sale again failed to impress and took his fourth loss of the year. The offense was shut out for the third time in 18 games as Yankees starter James Paxton cruised through eight innings with 12 strikeouts.

The Sox will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound Wednesday as these teams conclude their short series in the Bronx. Eovaldi is winless in three starts with an 8.00 ERA, 10 strikeouts and 10 walks. He has yet to pitch beyond the fifth inning.

The Yankees will counter with J.A. Happ. The veteran left-hander is 0-2 with an 8.76 ERA in three starts. He was rocked in his last outing on Friday, giving up six earned runs over four innings in a loss to the Chicago White Sox.

In lineup news, Dustin Pedroia is back at second base and will bat sixth for Boston. Christian Vazquez will do the catching and bat eighth. Andrew Benintendi is still out with a foot injury.
