Betts returns to Red Sox lineup vs. Yankees

Mookie Betts returns to the Red Sox lineup tonight as the DH in New York as the Red Sox try again to clinch the American League East title in the home of their arch-rivals.

Betts left the game Sunday with soreness in his side after making a throw from right field (he had been hit by a pitch in that area on Saturday). He was held out of the Sox' 3-2 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday night because of the wet weather.

Betts is back in the leadoff spot and Andrew Benintendi, who didn't start against lefty J.A. Happ Tuesday, is also back.

David Price, who has allowed 14 runs in three starts against the Yankees this season, including eight runs and five homers in 3 1/3 innings in his last start in the Bronx, opposes Luis Severino as the Red Sox try to clinch the A.L. East for the third year in a row.

The full Red Sox lineup:

1. Betts, DH
2. Benintendi, LF
3. J.D. Martinez, RF
4. Xander Bogaerts, SS
5. Mitch Moreland, 1B
6. Ian Kinsler, 2B
7. Eduardo Nunez, 3B
8. Sandy Leon, C
9. Jackie Bradley Jr., CF
