Daniel Theis ‘most likely' out for season

WALTHAM -- Daniel Theis will be out for “the foreseeable future” with a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to Celtics coach Brad Stevens.

“We actually thought live he hit knee-to-knee but it buckled back,” Stevens said. “When he got buckled back on that, he tore a meniscus. He is out for the foreseeable future, most likely the season.”

NBC Sports Boston reported Sunday night that the 6-foot-10 forward was going to undergo an MRI this morning and could potentially lead to him being lost for an extended period of time.

The loss of Theis is just the latest in what has been a run of health-related setbacks for the Boston Celtics.

In addition to Theis, the Celtics have played all but the first five minutes of the season without Gordon Hayward who suffered a dislocated left ankle injury in the season opener at Cleveland.

More recently, Kyrie Irving has been hampered by left knee soreness, which was bothersome to the point where he was unable to play in the second half of Boston’s 99-97 loss against Indiana on Sunday.
