Bruins-Ducks takeaways: Rask struggles in 5-3 loss

The Boston Bruins' two-game win streak was snapped Monday night as they fell to the Anaheim Ducks, 5-3.

David Pastrnak, Taylor Hall and Erik Haula each scored for the B's. Ryan Getzlaf, Isac Lundestrom, Troy Terry, Derek Grant and Greg Pateryn did the damage for Anahaim.

Now is not the time to move Pastrnak off rejuvenated second line

Here are three instant takeaways from the Bruins' loss, which brings them to 24-13-2 on the campaign. Next up is a Wednesday night matchup vs. the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center.

Another rough night for Tuukka Rask

It might be time for the Bruins to reconsider Tuukka Rask's role. A fair share of Bruins fans apparently agree, as "We want Swayman" chants were heard loud and clear at TD Garden on Monday night.

Rask allowed five goals for the second time in four games. For the most part, they were soft goals that made it tough to give the veteran goaltender the benefit of the doubt. The worst of the bunch was the short-handed goal from Lundestrom in the second period.

Rask now owns a .844 save percentage (76 saves on 90 shots) in his four starts. With the loss, he now has a 1-7-1 career record against the Ducks.

Jeremy Swayman could be making his return to the Bruins net sooner rather than later.

Nick Foligno adds insult to injury

It was an eventful night for veteran forward Nick Foligno, and that's not necessarily a good thing.

Foligno was partly responsible for that Lundestrom goal as he fell down and turned the puck over in the neutral zone. A few minutes later, he tussled with Sam Carrick and took a clean shot to the face in a brief bout.

That would be all she wrote for Foligno as he exited the game toward the end of the third period with an upper-body injury. Altogether, it was probably a night the 34-year-old will want to forget.

David Pastrnak's hot streak continues

Boston's second line once again was a bright spot. David Pastrnak did his part by getting the B's on the board in the second period with his 20th goal of the season. He got some help from a beautiful Tomas Nosek assist.

It's Pasta's sixth consecutive season with 20 or more goals.

It's safe to say Pastrnak has bounced back after an uncharacteristically slow start to the season. He's tallied 12 goals in the month of January.

Also providing a spark for the Bruins were Pastrnak's linemates, Taylor Hall and Erik Haula. They came through with their ninth and fourth goals of the season, respectively. Brad Marchand added a highlight of his own with a sweet assist on the Hall score.
