Giants pitchers and catchers report to spring training workouts Wednesday, and the front office still is making moves.
The Giants on Monday claimed reliever Jarlin Garcia off waivers from the Miami Marlins, and designated Burch Smith for assignment in a corresponding move.

Garcia, who turned 27 years old last month, appeared in 53 games for the Marlins last season. The left-hander posted career-bests in ERA (3.02) and WHIP (1.11). He also struck out 39 batters in 50 2/3 innings.

Last season, Garcia actually posted reverse splits. Right-handed batters hit just .194 against him while lefties batted .247.
Smith, 29, appeared in 10 games for the Giants last season. He had a 2.08 ERA and only allowed two earned runs over 8 2/3 innings.
