After winning two straight Silver Slugger awards, Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner missed out on another one last season.
On Opening Day, the slugging ace already started his campaign for a third selection as the National League's top hitting pitcher. Leading off the fifth inning, Bumgarner hit a line shot off D'backs starting pitcher Zack Greinke over the left field wall. He now has two career home runs against the 2009 Cy Young winner.

Bumgarner, who is entering his eighth full season in the bigs, has now hit 15 career home runs, tying him for the most ever by a Giants pitcher. He joins Johnny Antonelli and Hal Schumacher on the franchise's all-time list.
Antonelli played on the Giants in both New York and San Francisco from 1954-1960. Schumacher donned a Giants jersey strictly in New York from 1931-1942 and then again in 1946.
Bumgarner's blast came off his bat at 112 miles per hour according to Statcast. It is the hardest hit home run from a Giants batter since September of 2015, and the ball left the yard in only 4.3 seconds.
